Chennai Super Kings stays in the hunt

Chennai Super Kings ride on a brilliant bowling performance by Ben Hilfenhaus to defeat the Delhi Daredevils at the at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai today. Curtsy this win the defending champions keep their hopes alive of making the playoffs. Ben Hilfenhaus bowled brilliantly up front for his 3 for 27 stifling the Daredevils reducing them to 27 for 4 by the end of the power play, a point from which they never really recovered. The Aussie pacer gave the hosts a perfect start when he bowled Virender Sehwag in the very first over of the match

Chasing Just 115 to win the Super Kings started briskly with Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay putting on an opening stand of 75 runs in 61 balls, before Irfan Pathan knocked over Hussey who scored 38 in 32 balls. Murali Vijay was then joined by Suresh Raina and the duo was involved in an unbeaten partnership that took the Super Kings to an easy victory. The Super Kings overcame the modest total by the Daredevils in 15.2 overs losing just 1 wicket. Murali Vijay looked in good touch striking 5 fours and a 6 in his knock of 48, while Suresh Raina scored a breezy 28.

Batting first the Delhi Daredevils were rocked early and could manage just 114 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to a superb opening spell by Ben Hilfenhaus, who bowled with pinpoint accuracy. The Daredevils didn’t look nearly as comfortable setting a target as opposed to chasing, with Captain Virender Sehwag failing for the second time in a row, falling to Ben Hilfenhaus in the very first over for just 4 runs, David Warner, who scored a brilliant hundred against the Deccan Chargers fell soon after chipping tamely to mid-off giving Hilfenhaus 2 wickets in his first 2 overs.

Naman Ojha, then gave Hilfenhaus his 3rd wicket when he gloved a ball down the leg-side into the waiting arms of MS Dhoni. Mahela Jayawardene could manage just 8 runs in 10 balls before he was out to Albie Morkel and by the end of the power-play the Daredevils were crawling at 27 for 4. With the middle order exposed to a quality bowling attack, boundaries were hard to come by and it took 32 balls before the shackles were broken by Venugopal Rao who charged Ravindra Jadeja and lofted him over wide long-on.

Jadeja was taken off after one over, in which he conceded 11, the most expensive in the first ten overs. The Daredevil’s middle order was stifled by the spin twins R Ashwin and Shadab Jakati who were supported well in the field. Venugopal Rao and Yogesh Nagar added 48 at a run-a-ball before Albie Morkel pulled off a stunning catch at short cover to send back Rao for 27 runs in 24 balls.

Daredevils added only 36 in their last five overs giving the Super Kings a relatively easy target for victory. Yogesh Nagar and Irfan Pathan remained not out on 43 and 13 respectively.

Earlier The Chennai Super Kings won the toss and chose to bowl first in contrast to the prevous twelve occasions at the M A Chidambaram Stadium when they had chosen to bat after winning the toss. Captain MS Dhoni expected the pitch to play much the same for the duration of the match and wanted to the deny the strong Daredevil batting lineup a chance to chase.

The Super Kings made just one change to their side, with Shadab Jakati coming in for Yo Mahesh, while the Delhi Daredevils made a couple changes with Andre Russell making way for Roelof van der Merwe and Umesh Yadav returning to the side in place of Shahbaz Nadeem.

ராஜ்யசபாவில் நேற்று எழுத்துப் பூர்வமாக அளித்த பதிலில், அவர் கூறியதாவது:

Naveen Patnaik, Jayalalithaa lavish praise on each other’s pet schemes

On stage and off it, Odisha and Tamil Nadu chief ministers, Naveen Patnaik and J Jayalalithaa, courted each other with open declarations of mutual admiration and respect as they made a joint appearance at the Odisha Foundation Day celebrations at the University of Madras on Friday. Though the context was socio-cultural ties, its political significance was not missed. Members of the Utkal Association of Madras, organizer of the event, were quite excited wondering whether the two CMs, beaming and smiling at the cameras and chatting intermittently, were speaking of matters of political import like the presidential elections in July and a possible formation of a third front.

"We know they are meeting again over lunch and afterwards at Madam Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence and so there are possibilities," they said. Jayalalithaa and Patnaik have met twice in Delhi in the recent past, during the two meetings called by the Centre to discuss internal security and the proposed National Counter-Terrorism Centre.

Speaking at the function, the two CMs lavished praise on each other's pet schemes. "There was a natural synergy between Biju Patnaik and me. I thrice hosted him in Tamil Nadu. He was a colossus in politics and was a father figure to me. I am happy to host his son Naveen, who is like a brother to me," Jayalalithaa said. She recalled the "historical links" between the ancient Kalinga and Chola empires. In the current context, she spoke of "acting and prospering together in the federal structure with outcomes leading to larger collective benefit".

After watching a dance troupe from Odisha perform, the two CMs left for the Trade Centre at Nandambakkam where Jayalalithaa hosted over an hour-long luncheon attended by all parties except DMK and DMDK. They then proceeded to Poes Garden where the duo had a 40-minute long private meeting but the media, expecting a major announcement was disappointed.

Jayalalithaa flatly denied there was any discussion about the presidential election. Asked about Patnaik's proposal that she head the sub-committee of CMs on the NCTC, she said it was for the Union home ministry to take a call.

FUNCTION DELAYED BY OVER A MONTH

For the first time in Odisha's history, the state's 76th foundation day was celebrated here on May 11 instead of April 1. "We traditionally celebrate the day on April 1, but due to non-availability of both chief ministers on that date, the function was delayed," a member of the Utkal Association of Madras said. At the centenary auditorium of the Madras university, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa unveiled the foundation stone of the proposed Odisha Bhavan, which will come up on 12,000 sq ft of land in Velachery. Jayalalithaa honoured eminent Odissi exponent Kumkum Mohanty, snow and sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik, musical stalwarts Vani Jairam and Ilayaraja.

தனியார் பள்ளிகளில் 15% கூடுதல் கட்டணம்: இணையதளத்தில் பள்ளிகளின் பெயர்ப்பட்டியல்

தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள தனியார் பள்ளிகளுக்கு அரசு தனித்தனியே கட்டணம் நிர்ணயித்து உத்தரவிட்டது. இந்த கட்டணத்தை எதிர்த்து 384 தனியார் பள்ளிகள் உயர் நீதிமன்றம் வழக்கு தொடர்ந்தன. இந்த வழக்கில் ’நீதிபதி கே.ரவிராஜ பாண்டியன் கமிட்டி நிர்ணயித்த கட்டணங்களை எதிர்த்து 2.5.2012-க்குள் வழக்கு தொடர்ந்த பள்ளிகள் மட்டும் 2012-2013-ம் கல்வி ஆண்டுக்கு மட்டும் இடைக்கால ஏற்பாடாக அந்த குழு நிர்ணயித்த கட்டணத்துடன் 15 சதவீதம் கூடுதல் கட்டணம் வசூலிக்கலாம்’ என்று உயர் நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டது.

 

இதைத்தொடர்ந்து, கட்டணத்தை எதிர்த்து வழக்கு தொடர்ந்த பள்ளிகள் அரசு நிர்ணயித்த கட்டணம் மற்றும் உயர் நீதிமன்றம் நிர்ணயித்த 15 சதவீத கூடுதல் கட்டணத்தை மட்டுமே வசூலிக்க வேண்டும். இதை மீறி செயல்படும் பள்ளிகள் மீது துறை ரீதியாகவும், சட்ட ரீதியாகவும் நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் என்று மெட்ரிக் பள்ளிகள் இயக்குனர் செந்தமிழ்ச்செல்வி எச்சரிக்கை விடுத்திருந்தார்.

 

இந்த நிலையில், கூடுதல் 15 சதவீத கட்டணம் வசூலிக்கும் 384 பள்ளிகளின் பட்டியல் மெட்ரிக் பள்ளிகள் இயக்குனரகத்தின் இணையதளத்தில் நேற்று வெளியிடப்பட்டது.
