கப்பலோட்டி தமிழன் – வ.உ.சி. பிறந்த நாள் நினைவு.
(மாணவர்களுக்கும் இளைஞர்களுக்கும் ஒரு ஊக்கக் கட்டுரை)
வரலாற்றைப் படிக்கிறபோது, சில நபர்களின் வாழ்க்கை நமக்கே ஒரு பாடமாக மாறுகிறது. அப்படி நம் மனத்தில் என்றும் உயிரோடிருப்பவர் தான் வள்ளிநாயகம் உலகநாதன் சிதம்பரனார் (வ.உ.சி.). இன்று, செப்டம்பர் 5, அவர் பிறந்த நாளில், நாம் அவரை நினைவு கூர்வது மட்டுமல்ல; அவருடைய நாட்டுப்பற்றையும் தியாகத்தையும் நம் வாழ்விலும் பின்பற்ற வேண்டும்.
இளமையில் இருந்தே நெஞ்சில் நெருப்பு
1872-ல் திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் பிறந்த வ.உ.சி., வழக்கறிஞராகப் பணியாற்றியபோதும், அவரின் இதயத்தில் ஒரே கனவு – இந்தியாவின் சுதந்திரம். அந்நாளில் ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் நம் நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரத்தையும் சுயமரியாதையையும் முழுமையாக ஒடுக்கினர். இளம் வ.உ.சி. அதனை ஏற்கவில்லை. "நாட்டுப்பற்று என்பது பேசுவதல்ல, செயல் மூலம் காட்டப்பட வேண்டும்" என்பதை அவர் தனது வாழ்வால் நிரூபித்தார்.
சுதேசி கப்பல் – இளைஞர்களுக்கு ஒரு பாடம்
1906-ல் அவர் துவக்கிய சுதேசி கப்பல் நிறுவனம், அந்நாளில் மிகப்பெரிய புரட்சி. ஆங்கிலேயர்களின் கப்பல் ஆதிக்கத்திற்கு இந்தியர்கள் தான் போட்டியிட முடியும் என்பதை அவர் உலகுக்கு காட்டினார். இது ஒரு சாதாரண வியாபாரம் அல்ல, ஒரு தேசியப் புரட்சி.
இன்று மாணவர்களும் இளைஞர்களும் இதிலிருந்து கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டியது –

சிறையில் சந்தித்த சோதனை
வ.உ.சி. மீது ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் வழக்குத் தொடுத்து, இரட்டை ஆயுள் தண்டனை விதித்தனர். சிறையில் அவர் கல் உடைத்தார், செக்கு இழுத்தார், சங்கிலி அணிந்தார். ஆனால் மனம் உடையவில்லை. இத்தகைய சோதனைகள் இருந்தும் அவர் தன் நாட்டுப்பற்றை கைவிடவில்லை.
இன்றைய இளைஞர்களுக்கு இதிலிருந்து ஒரு பெரிய பாடம் கிடைக்கிறது:
👉 வாழ்க்கையில் தோல்விகள் வந்தாலும், சிரமங்கள் வந்தாலும், மன உறுதியை விட்டுவிடக் கூடாது.
வாழ்நாள் தியாகம்
சுதந்திரத்திற்காக பாடுபட்ட வ.உ.சி., இறுதியில் ஏழ்மை நிலைக்கு தள்ளப்பட்டார். வழக்கறிஞர் வேலை பறிக்கப்பட்டது. இருந்தாலும், அவருடைய நாட்டுப்பற்று தளரவில்லை. “நாட்டிற்காக தியாகம் செய்வதே உயர்ந்த பணி” என்ற சிந்தனை மட்டுமே அவரை வாழ வைத்தது.
இன்றைய இளைஞர்களுக்கான ஊக்கம்
மாணவர்களும் இளைஞர்களும் வ.உ.சி. அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கையை நினைத்தால், பல விலைமதிப்புள்ள பாடங்களை கற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம்:
